Mary Fisher joined SkinMedica as Chief Executive Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors, in April 2008. Ms. Fisher's previous experience includes more than 25 years in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Most recently, she was Chief Operating Officer of Acorda Therapeutics, a CNS company, with responsibility for corporate strategy and business development, financial planning, sales and marketing, and manufacturing. Previously, Ms. Fisher was VP, Strategic Healthcare and Commercial Operations for Cephalon, with responsibility for product planning and marketing, managed care sales, and manufacturing. Her earlier experience includes positions at Immunex and Boehringer Ingelheim. She is also a member of the Board of the Neuroscience Nursing Foundation and member of the Board of BIOCOM.
Theodore Schwarz, President
Theodore Schwarz has served as our President since December 2010. Mr. Schwarz previously served as our Senior Vice President and General Manager since joining SkinMedica in 2005. Mr. Schwarz served as Vice President of Sales for La Roche-Posay, a cosmeceutical division of L'Oréal, from January 2004 to January 2005. From January 2002 to January 2004, Mr. Schwarz was the Global Strategic Marketing and Business Development Manager at Galderma International, France. Before his position at Galderma International, France, Mr. Schwarz spent 11 years at Galderma Laboratories in managerial and sales positions. Mr. Schwarz received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing/Business from Michigan State University.
Steve Loomis, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Steve P. Loomis joined SkinMedica, Inc. in May 2010 as Senior Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary. From 1996 to February 2010, Mr. Loomis served as Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary for CardioDynamics International Corporation, a publicly traded international medical device company, and in 2008, Mr. Loomis was appointed to the additional role of Vice President of Operations. From 1993 until 1996, he served as Director of Financial Reporting at Kinko's Inc. a worldwide business service provider. From 1988 to 1993, Mr. Loomis was Chief Financial Officer for Terminal Data Corporation, a publicly traded international high technology manufacturing company. He earned his Bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University at Northridge. Mr. Loomis is a certified public accountant and has served on the board of several for-profit and not-for-profit organizations.
Theodore Ebel, Senior Vice President, Corporate Development
Theodore Ebel serves as our Senior Vice President, Corporate Development. From 2001-2006, Mr. Ebel held positions in Corporate Development and Strategy at CancerVax Corporation, where he was most recently Executive Director, responsible for mergers and acquisitions, in-licensing and out-licensing activities. Prior to CancerVax, Mr. Ebel was Vice President, Strategic Ventures at MP3.com. In addition, Mr. Ebel has held management positions at Amgen, Inc in Marketing and Corporate Development as well as served as a Management Consultant at Arthur D. Little, Inc. Mr. Ebel received a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy Studies from Duke University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude. He received his MBA from the Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania.
Rob Sorensen, Senior Vice President, Operations
Rob Sorensen has served as our Senior Vice President, Operations since June 2006. In addition from November of 2008 to June 2010 he was responsible for Research & Development and Quality. From 2002 to 2006, Mr. Sorensen served as Vice President of Operations in La Jolla for Smith & Nephew Wound Management, a UK-based global medical device company, and in October of 2004, he became the site manager. From 1991 to 2002, Mr. Sorensen held several executive positions with Advanced Tissue Sciences, a tissue engineering company, until the company's assets were sold to Smith & Nephew. Prior to entering the biotechnology field, Rob's experience was in the semi-conductor industry working locally for Diacon and Signetics in Silicon Valley. Mr. Sorensen received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of the Pacific Eberhardt School of Business.
Joe Willis, Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Joe Willis joined SkinMedica in January 2011 as Vice President, Sales & Marketing. Mr. Willis previously served as General Manager of Ortho Dermatologics, a specialty pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson, from 2006 to 2010. From 2000 to 2006, Mr. Willis was the Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at DFB Pharmaceuticals for Coria Laboratories. Before his position at Coria, Mr. Willis spent over 10 years in managerial and sales positions at Galderma Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson. Mr. Willis received a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Communication from Abilene Christian University.
Christina Balesteri, Vice President, Human Resources
Christina Balesteri serves as our Vice President, Human Resources. Christina joined SkinMedica in March of 2003. Prior to entering the biotechnology field, Christina's experience was in the wireless technology industry working locally for five years at DENSO Wireless Systems. In addition, Ms. Balesteri has held HR positions at Olsten Staffing Services and Household Credit Services. Ms. Balesteri holds Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from California State University in San Diego.
John Garruto, Vice President, Formulation Development & Founding Formulation Scientist
John Garruto has served as our Vice President of Formulation since September 2011 and is our founding Formulation Scientist. Mr. Garruto has worked as a formulating chemist and technical consultant to the personal care industry for 34 years. He is a featured lecturer to the Society of Cosmetic Chemists, HBA, Beauty Industry West, Nutracon, American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, The International Aesthetics, Cosmetics & Spa Conference and other professional and private organizations. Mr. Garruto is a frequent consultant to many beauty publications as well as news organizations such as FOX Communications and CBS. In addition, he is a published author with articles appearing in many technical publications and holds multiple patents in the area of personal care and related science. Mr. Garruto is a past chairman of the California Chapter of the Society of Cosmetic Chemists and recipient of the National Chapter Merit Award.
